Episode 124: Michelle Shapiro, RD

Michelle is an integrative/ functional Registered Dietitian from NYC who has helped over 1000+ clients reverse their anxiety, resolve long-standing gut issues and approach their weight lovingly.

She is the host of the Quiet the Diet Podcast and aims to illuminate natural healing methods for listeners, as well as invite listeners to approach their weight in a body-neutral way. She clears up nutritional dogma and takes a strong role in the middle ground (where she believes people can want to lose weight AND have a positive relationship with food!) She aims to bridge the gap between body positivity and intentional health changes. She and her staff Dietitian, Nicki see clients virtually in her practice.

Today we talk about:
Why it’s okay to want to be in a different body
Why some people need to focus on their inner foundation and address other health issues first
How we as clinicians can talk appropriately to our clients about releasing weight
Her thoughts on food addiction
Her thoughts on all eating disorders being food addiction
How does she feel about weight loss drugs
Why doing real work it takes time, and why when you work with trained professionals there are no money-back guarantees…no infomercial healing here listeners!
